House Vessel

Image
Our chosen object is a sour patch gummies candy For the project, we all brainstormed ideas and agreed on a haunted house for our vessel. It relates to the gummies in two ways. One: they have a house to live in. Two: Halloween candy! We divided up the work like this:  Someone does a sketch of the vessel, someone else does the 3D model, and then someone else disassembles that model in Rhino 8. I did the sketch, Emmanuel did the 3D model, and Julianna disassembled the model. Then in class, me and Emmanuel put it in the laser cutter and assembled it in real life. These are the sketches i came up with, I made a regular house and then tried to do a haunted one.  This is Emmanuel's 3D model  This is the disassembling of the model that Julianna did And here are some progress photos! The final product :)

Vessel Designs + chosen object

we chose sour patch gummies for our object! I'm pretty sure just one piece of candy though.  These are my sketches for ideas I kinda went in a spooky direction because of halloween still being on the mind. Maybe a creepy eyeball that opens and the candy is inside? or a spider? My initial idea was the dentures opening and the candy being inside. also i didnt sketch sour patch gummies at the time of these sketches because i did not know what kind of candy we would be using. so ignore the generalized candy drawings and pretend theyre sour patch gummies. I thought a set of teeth (dentures) might be cool because when it opens and closes its like its eating the candy? The syringe and pill drawings are because Julianna suggested a pill bottle and i was coming up with a couple ideas surrounding that Here are my final sketches I came up with. Emmanuel suggested a jack-o-lantern when we first discussed ideas in classes, and so i drew it. unsure if it was to open from the mouth or the h...

Chosen Coat Hook Model

Image
Unfortunately I do not have process screenshots because I didn't know the PCs in the lab didn't save screenshots unless you manually do it!!! This did take me excruciatingly long though. I got it perfect at first, finished it the day it was assigned and right when I was almost finished Rhino 8 crashed and I didn't know the school PCs don't autosave. Then i tried again and again to get it as good as i got it my first try. this one still isn't as good in my opinion but it works and i still like it. In the future I'm going to definitely save more often.

Chosen Hollow Form

Image
This is the hollow form I chose to 3D print.  Function: Aesthetic function, it doesn't really do anything and just looks cool Form: It looks cool Self supporting: Yes 3D printing: it is a closed polysurface, fits specific dimensions and measurements

evaluation

Evaluation Chart (averages) concept 1. 17.3 Concept 2. 16.3 Concept 3. 18 Concept 4. 17.6 Concept 5. 16 Concept 3 is the highest average, which is the whale tail. Personally I agree with this ranking. I have chosen concept 3, I like the design the most and am excited to make it in Rhino.

NEW Coat hanger concepts

Ignore my last post! I didn't meet requirements and also didn't understand instillations Whale! I drew it from multiple POVs. the idea is that the blowhole is blowing out water and some of that becomes the coat hook. As you can see from the top POV, half of this model is flat on one side so it has the ability to be installed. There are holes in the fins for wear the screws would go.  This is a seemingly normal coat hook with a bird on top. The eyes of the birds are actually holes for where the screws go in. More whale designs! This one is honestly probably my favourite, a whale tail extends from the wall and the fins become hooks. Again, there are holes for where screws would go. I got this idea just by thinking of things that mount. People mount animal heads.. why not a deer for a coat hook? At first I wanted the antlers to look more like deer antlers but it wasn't very practical. Same idea as the whale tail for instillation. This one is the same idea as the first whale d...
